Delfi .

Delfi is a small village located in Fokida region in central Greece. Very close to this village , there is an archeological site with a global reputation, that is definitely worth visiting.

Buses to Delfi depart daily from Liossion Bus Station in Athens. To reach this station you can either use the green line of the metro and get off at Agios Nikolaos station ( from there the bus station is about 10 minutes walking) or you can use a taxi.

Tips: If you wish to continue your trip after Delfi and visit Meteora, another stunning place of the countryside,  there are direct buses that connect these two places. Thus, there in no need to return back to Athens.

 

Meteora.

Speaking about Meteora , i would say that this destination is definitely a Must for any tourist that comes to Greece. Enormous rocks scattered in the middle of a big valey, on the top of which some of the most famous monasteries of the country are located. The view from the top of the rocks is really spectacular.

To reach Meteora from Athens you have two options:

Either to use the train or the bus.

Trains to Meteora (Kalambaka is the name of the station that services this destination), depart daily from Athens central station (Stathmos Larissis).  Red metro line takes you there from the city centre.( The metro station is also called Stathmos Larissis.)

Buses towards Kalambaka depart daily from Liossion Bus Station. (There is not a direct connection . From Athens you take the bus to Trikala and from there you change to continue up to Kalambaka.)

Ancient Olympia.

The birthplace of the Olympic Games, Ancient Olympia is located in Peloponese region. Although a bit far from the greek capital, a visit there, should always be in the list of any visitor in Greece. Numerous sanctuaries, the famous Stadium that took place the Olympic Games in ancient Greece and many more monuments are waiting to explore them.

 

Buses towards this unique place depart daily from Kifissos Bus Station in Athens.

(From Athens you take the bus up to Pirgos and then you change to a regional bus up to Ancient Olympia.)

Mycenae:

The birthplace of the Mycenaean civilization (one of the most ancient in Europe) is located in the region of Argolida, close to the city of Nafplio, the first capital of Greece. ( the city itself is a “Must to see”). The ancient palace, the fortification and the archeological museum with its treasures will definitely impress you.

Buses to Mycenae depart daily from Kifissos Bus Station in Athens. It is the bus Athens – Nafplio that makes a stop to “Fichti” and Mycenae.
